When did Arthur get kidnapped and replaced with a robot whose only functions are to spew disparagement at Merlin and to make adulatory soliloquies about Gwen? When did the writers decide this would be more enjoyable to watch than actual characterization?

On the other hand, MERLIN IS HOT WITH HIS STOLEN DUDS.

Oh god. I didn't notice how much of a jerk Arthur was until you put all the quotes together like that, because of Merlin actually sticking up for himself this episode (he made me LOL all the time) -- but he sort of said he was sorry?

bzuh, but he was only apologizing in that irritating, entitled way where he wasn't REALLY sorry, just saying what he thought people wanted to hear and knowing he would get away with it, that he'd just as easily do the same thing the next time around because people give him whatever he wants because he's PRINCE I-DO-WOT-I-WANT ARTHUR.

I love him too, but I liked him better when the show remembered that the title character was MERLIN not ARTHUR. Way to hog the spotlight.

I need him to do something actually noble and self-sacrificing like he used to do last season whenever he was being too much of a jerk.

Arthur's apology, to me, sounds more like a way to shut Merlin up (because he kept BITCHING throughout this whole episode, just like Arthur). I didn't really think he meant it.

and yeah, merlin's been adorable. i don't really like how he's been pigeonholed as this comedic sidekick for Arthur, bc he's so much more than that, but at least he's being shown as a real person when arthur isn't onscreen.

It really bothers me, because the SHOW IS NAMED AFTER MERLIN. There is not nearly enough magic this season. I'll be pretty upset if the upcoming two-parter doesn't have some kind of big thing for Merlin. Like a couple of episodes that focus on the other characters is fine, but Merlin's the POV character, we're supposed to see most of this through his eyes.

It's not called, "Camelot" it's called "MERLIN" dammit.

I'm not focusing on the negative!!! Nope! I did love the Merlin/Arthur interaction, a lot!!

But I will tell you something embarrassing. So I had been rereading your last weeks episode post, when I opened a new window and read this new post that was talking about how much Gwen/Lance rocked and how there pairing was getting so epic. And I was like 'huh? I thought you said last week that you liked the pairing but you thought they were kind of boring. haha, what with the 180?' and posted that reply.... and they're like 'what? um, I've shipped Lancelot/Gwen since day one!'

When the writers figured buddy+buddy haha comic relief instead of the friendship they'd developed, was be less gay. Julian & Co. have always struck me as incredibly uncomfortable with people (not just fangirls) pointing out the subtext.

Somebody said somewhere that this season, they don't recognize any of the characters. Same here. I'm actually thinking of sending TPTB a letter...while I'm deciding if it's worth the effort, I'm hoping for the new season to totally bomb, rating wise.
