I was looking for a new show

Started watching True Blood. Some coworkers recommended it. I'm not into the vampire thing at all so was sort of meh about picking it up, but I gotta say, the pilot is intriguing.

So. You guys got any non-spoilery opinions on the show, or wanna suggest something else?

Edit: Something other than GLEE? I love how 95% of the suggestions in the comments instantly went to this show, hahahaha. Good to know the old f-list has great taste ;)

ah yes, glee. it's been a source of light and goodness in my life since the pilot came out on fox \o/ and i'm glad to hear season 1 of true blood is good. does that mean s2 isn't so great, or that it isn't underway yet?

I was really surprised that I liked it! I think the whole tongue-in-cheek feel helps quite a bit. Didn't like the second season as much as the first, but I'll definitely continue to watch!

I liked the first season. Loved Eric. But halfway through season 2 with every episode I found got more and more ridiculous. and not in a good way. But you can't really go on other peoples opinions entirely, try it out for yourself. It cant hurt.

I do recommend Flash Forward if you haven't seen it yet.

True Blood is kind of ridiculous. There are boring parts, there are MOST CERTAINLY FUNNY parts and some rather interesting points, I really liked the first season for the interaction and the second season has some moments. So if you enjoy it and don't expect anything prolific out the show it's a really cracky fun show to watch.

I'm really enjoying Castle (and actually shockingly Drop Dead Diva), and How I Met Your Mother is like my favorite show ever.

I've only seen the pilot of Modern Family, but it was pretty darn funny. (Flashforward is all right, but not exciting)

I'd say you should give True Blood a go and if it works for you keep it up, but if it doesn't, don't feel bad about dropping it - it's sort of a cracky, sometimes awful thing, but it's entertaining as hell if you like it.

I d/led the pilot of Castle (I think it was off your suggestion in a post you made, maybe?) but I don't know, it didn't really capture my interest :0 I don't know what Drop Dead Diva is but I'll totally check it out! And thanks for reminding me of Modern Family--I'd been meaning to check it out <3

I second the rec for Being Human. It's fun, but thought-provoking, and it's promo shots for S2 (scheduled to air sometime in 2010) are sooo intriguing (and hot) (and pretty). Even though they almost entirely re-cast between the Pilot and S1, I recommend checking out all seven of those eps. The season one premiere recaps and distils the pilot, I found it helpful (and fun!) to watch.


Also! Definitely watch Firefly! I'm another person who hadn't seen it when it aired and once I started watching it last month it became clear that it was one of the best. shows. ever. (It's on Hulu!)

When you're done with that (only 13 eps, I'm afraid :( ) we can have a discussion as to whether or not Generation Kill would be a good show for you. (It totes has more ASkars bang for your buck, but it can be pretty damn brutal, even though it's hysterical as all hell. Sometimes both at once.)

TRUE BLOOD, yes! IMHO the second season was much much better than the first. The characters were more solid, the writers were more willing to take risks, Eric Northman (Vampire Viking!) was even more awesome, there much less of Suckie and Beeell. Some bad things though: Jason gets much less naked, and... um... I guess that's it.

I dunno if you're into sci-fi but my new favorite show (other than Glee, which is like, everyone's favorite new show) is Defying Gravity. So so tasty. Oh, Drop Dead Diva's also good for a lot of cheesy laughs too.

Hmm. I love Criminal Minds - it's good for strong women, pretty people and disturbing violence. On the fluffy side, Psych is always awesome - any TV show where the lead does the Estevz dance from The Breakfast Club is on to a winner - and Lie to Me has Tim Roth *yummy*.
