Just got back from a wedding in Cape Cod. It was the first I'd been to! It was for a friend, and whoo boy, was it an emotional weekend. Very high highs, very low lows, you guys know the drill. My outfit was hot though, so that's always a boon ;) May or may not post photos.

Notes: Merlin is all sorts of hot-and-bothered in this, and it's freaking erotic.

He Was Steeping by miakun (PG, 3k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, modern!AU. Morgana POV. Arthur brings deaf!Merlin home and Morgana starts to understand why her shallow sibling finally wants to settle down. Written for kinkme_merlin.
Notes: Love the take on the prompt of deaf!Merlin; the author does a really good job. Merlin's characterization is lovely and very much like his canonical self, and I love how subtly besotted Arthur is. Plus, second POVs are always fun when well-written, and this is definitely one of those.

Name Calling by miakun (NC-17, 2k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin. Merlin watches, unnoticed, while Arthur takes out his frustrations at night.
Notes: I love an angsty!Arthur, and when it's in combination with him angrily wanking like in this story, it is HOT, HOT, HOT. miakun is new to the Merlin fandom--kinkme_merlin was her debut--and can I just say, I can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeve!

Getting it Out of My System by rosemaryandrue (PG, 2k)
Summary: Arthur&Merlin. Merlin's been banished from Camelot for years, and he risks being discovered and killed when he returns to Arthur in the form of a wolf.
Notes: This vignette is absolutely thrilling. It's full of subterfuge and underlying sexual tension, and even if Arthur and Merlin don't wind up making out or having hot sex, the absolute loyalty and love between them is in no way dampened. This has the makings of an epic, which the author may or may not pick up and continue. What a tease!

Prompt: fluff by lefcadio (PG, 750 words)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin. Merlin's ill, and Arthur tries to convince himself he doesn't care that much. Written for summerpornathon.
Notes: The h/c!!!!! Love.

Summary: Arthur/Merlin, future fic, established relationship. Merlin kills some baddies and watches them burn as Arthur watches Merlin, worried.
Notes: Here's a dash of soberness in this week's deluge of smutty ficlets. I love Arthur and Merlin's interaction in this. They're established and good together, hinting at years of hard work at their relationship. Arthur is adorably affectionate while Merlin is powerful and thoughtful. It's fresh characterization for the both of them and lovely to read.

Stealth, it is Not their Forte by luisadeza (NC-17, ~1k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, other POVs. Arthur and Merlin get caught in the act. A lot.
Notes: Two things: first, luisadeza is a great, established writer in the fandom. Second, other-POV is a finicky plot device, but great when done well. Mix these two things together? Yeah, exactly.

World on Fire by kelene (NC-17, 2k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin. Arthur does not like Lancelot being so close to Merlin.
Notes: This fic relies on a fandom cliche, the writing is average, and at the end of the day, a bit forgettable. But you know what? I AM ONLY HUMAN. Jealous!Arthur, faux Merlin/Lancelot, slight powerplay--GUILTY-PLEASURE-READING IS THE BEDROCK OF FANDOM, SO HUP TO.

Habit by epictimesthree (vid)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, PG. Arthur suspects Merlin of being a sorceror, getting a wee bit obsessive. Done to "66" by the Afghan Whigs.
Notes: epictimesthree is SO GOOD AT VIDDING. This one's refreshingly well-done, helped by hi-res footage, buttery-smooth editing, and clever timing--all attributes I'm having trouble finding as of late in Merlin vids D: The story here is pieced together in a way that works perfectly with the lyrics, and while it's enjoyably simple to follow, there are complex and emotional facets at work too. Finally, angsty!Arthur is always a win for me *__* QUALITY VID = LOVE.
