weekly round-up 12
Mar. 1st, 2009 06:24 pmSorry the round-up's a little late, I wound up filling in at the bakery I used to work at for the bulk of Saturday, and today was mostly spent on graphics work. Productive for RL, but not so much for fandom D: Still! Here she is:
Weekly Round-Up
Titles in bold are extra-recommended ♥
The Sword in the Wizard by
the_white_crane (vid)
Summary: Unbeknownst to many viewers, the BBC TV series "Merlin" was merely a testbed for the latest fantasy gay romance movie; "The Sword In The Wizard". Here's the first trailer. Merlin/Gaius, Merlin/Arthur
Notes: Just passing this along the grapevine. This is crack. Very WELL-DONE, hilarious crack. Now go watch.
want by
sunset_endings (R, ~800 words)
Summary: Arthur POV. Arthur has a sneaking suspicion that Merlin knows exactly what he's doing to him.
Notes: Fun little guilt-pleasure trip. If angsty!Arthur is your thing, this is your fic.
art by
suchoddity (art)
Summary: PG, modern day Arthur/Merlin illustration.
Notes: The artist is obviously talented, and the coloring is subtle and gorgeous. As for content--CUTE.
a tree and a bee and a flea, fiddle-dee-dee by
oxoniensis (R, 8k)
Summary: First-time fic. Merlin uses his magic to get him and Arthur out of (and into) various scrapes.
Notes: Signe's a staple in this fandom, so having her latest story wind up here should be no surprise. For this story in particular, it's the characterization that really takes center stage. It's the driving force behind the plot, which consists of vignettes of Arthur and Merlin getting into silly situations, bantering back-and-forth with easy dialogue, and generally just having a great time throughout it all. The magic-use is fresh and original (and CUTE), and the best part is she manages to infuse this humorous piece with real beauty and depth. Good, grade-A fic.
