It's been a hell of a work week. Got to tackle some designs of my own, finally feel like I might be on the road to becoming a real person at my company o_o

Flipside, went to a bar for a friend of a friend's bday. I never feel sad about being single until...well, until I'm feeling sad about being single. *sigh*

I like how these round-up previews have turned into little blurbs of TMI. I APOLOGIZE.

Springs the Wood Anew by sevenfists (PG, 2k)
Summary: Merlin and Arthur rolling around in a field full of daisies.
Notes: Another SPN vet, sevenfists is one of your old-fashioned, high-quality writers. This story in particular finds its strength in spectacular imagery--she paints a simple but vivid scene. You can practically smell the forest, feel the damp earth and the flowers and summer sun and every word is rife with tactile sensations. It's a very sweet story.

Summary: In which Merlin is promoted, Gwen is upset, Morgana is lewd, and Arthur thinks he’s getting some free sexing. Merlin is made "Lord of the Bedchambers", except he has no idea what the job entails.
Notes: The story is as cute as the summary would suggest. Oblivious!Merlin and angsty!Arthur is an adorable combination.

All the Laughter from Before by waldorph (R, 6k)
Summary: Merlin's magic is found out and he is burned at the stake. This is the aftermath (and don't run away! There's a happy ending).
Notes: waldorph is fast becoming one of my favorite authors in this fandom. This fic is simply beautiful; the narrative is very story-like and as a reader, you find yourself getting behind all the characters and feeling for them through their sorrow. That would be the strength here; the characterization is so believable and it's got one of my favorite tropes of angsty!Arthur.

I usually don't mind the whole single thing too :) The only time it bugs me is when I bump into this one guy who always asks if I'm seeing anyone. I think it's his version of 'how are you' but it feels humiliating every time I have to go 'not at the moment'. Icky.
