Ahahaha, seriously howwww??? I'm jealous of your smutty muse. Mine's a pretentious bitch.
Isn't porn like, retardedly difficult to make original? I just feel like there's been a BILLION ways a handjob's been written. Another five jillion for blowjobs, and uh, intercourse has been written to INFINITY so. I wind up working meticulously on the sex scenes I write, trying soooo hard to make sure it's fresh or at least glib in the parts that can't be re-invented (not by me, at least). It just winds up being this like, completely tedious, mental task. Which, uh, PORN? I hope the tedium doesn't read into the actual fiction >.> *frets*
Okay, yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Yeah, it's been done. But in a fandom as large as ours, almost everything has been done, not just porn. The originality doesn't come from what they're doing so much as how it makes you feel. Don't try to re-invent it, just be as honest with the scene as you can possibly be...
That's worked for me, anyway :) *is SO NOT helpful*
I guess that's true too D: But porn is especially difficult because it's like, trying to write an emotional scene or the finale to something, but it's L-O-N-G. At least the stuff I usually write, you can get away with packing a punch into a line or two. But porn is like, pages and pages of intense emotion and high energy, and that translates direction into how draining it is to write =_= like a freaking marathon, yeesh.
If you really want to be helpful, maybe I'll just commission you to write the sex scene! Hee!! *throws money at you*
Hee, I know what you mean. For some reason it's actually been easier for me to write lately - maybe just the more you write it the easier it gets - but it used to feel like such a chore and it made me feel like the writing was just so clinical because I was forcing it.
So maybe if it's giving you so much trouble and it doesn't feel like it's working very well you should just skip it. Porn shouldn't be forced into a story anymore than a happy ending that doesn't fit or a character that feels unnecessary or whatever else. A nice "fade to black" scene can sometimes be even more evocative that a totally porny scene that feels too technical or forced.
Or, not to be too TMI, but you could try *cough* writing it when you're horny.
And I wouldn't worry too much about feeling like it's all been done before, because even if every type of sex scene has been written to death already, this story is your own and the emotions behind the sex in your story are going to be different than the emotions behind the sex in the next author's. Don't think of it as "I'm writing this sex scene and it sounds just like that person's!" think of it as you're writing this story and the sex is part of your story. Unless you're writing a PWP :p
Nnngh, I'd LOVE to do fade to black (btw this is for that re-write of Sky in a Box...I'm SO CLOSE to being done with it, all that's left is this pesky scene), but when I did it the first time around for this story, it just felt like such a COP OUT. So I thought I'd stop being so lazy and just do it already, for the sake of the other 20k words that sorely need this scene ;_;
this story is your own and the emotions behind the sex... Oh hey, I never thought of it like that :0 That makes me feel better about it, aheh. THANKEES.
