OMFHGA#@)3259WA@#pSAMMY god damn, Jared hit it outta the ballpark with that scene ( where he's sneaking in to Trotter's). Is it just me or did Jared and Jensen swap acting talents over hiatus? Jensen's been flat while Jared's been AMAZING this season. Or could just be the writers, who knows. Sammy's SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Jensen's been flat this season, I just think everyone is sick of him. It's been a good long while since we've seen some character growth on the Dean front. It's like... act lecherous, eat, protect sammy, angst over something, kill something and repeat.

So yeah, it could just be the writers. Maybe they're waiting for some grand characterization-reveal of the sort they're so fond of; if that's the case I hope it's done with acting and not words. Jensen can handle it!

Oh well, so long as there's some magic going on with at least one of the boys, I can't complain :)

He's made of win! And I thought he couldn't get any better than 3.03. His face when he realized they were human! And him going "Um, have a nice day?" made me FLAIL. *flaps hands*

Ouch. It hurts because it's maybe true. I think both Jared and Sam's writing have improved this season whereas Dean's a little one note. I still think Jensen's an amazing actor so I'm blaming it on the writing. :(

I dunno. Maybe the writers got wind of some fangirls whining about how Dean was way too cry-y and angsty season two and took them seriously. Fools.

Kind of hard not to be flat when the writers have completely undermined your character and turned a formerly complex character almost totally one dimensional. :) They've basically "gutted" Dean as a character at this point. He doesn't even have a point in the show beyond the object Sam has to save. Right now RUBY has more a role in the 2 central arcs of this show than Dean. It's like the writers are totally shoving Dean away from the core of the show and onto the sidekick sidelines.

But I actually thought Jensen was really good in this episode, despite how little he had to work with. Whenever he did have something he worked it. The scene where the demon asks if he's afraid of going to hell and he says no but you know he is, that was brilliant acting on his part.

Yeah, I have to agree with you. I thought he was flat in the first episode - maybe trying to switch gears from all the heavy emotional stuff from last season to how to handle this season. But then 'he' seemed fine, but I have to say that having him eat, have sex and basically act like a jerk is getting very tiresome and a real waste of a fine actor and character. And this is coming from a Sammy fan, but I love both the boys. Jared IS really coming into his own now, but it's a hollow thing without Jensen there by his side and in character.

I think this is a good part of why a lot of fans were concerned about adding two new characters: letting the main ones get sidelined or not as developed. I mean we really need to see Dean trying to cope with his 'death sentence' we need to see him go through the stages of that acceptance and also see more of him interacting with Sam and his concerns that Sam isn't quite all.... Sam. That's what I want to watch in this show, but the writers seem much more interested in the new characters. Hope they settle down and get us back into what really makes this show tick, and soon.
