Oh my god, I adored this episode.
BEN AND DEAN WERE SO CUTE although I kept wondering why Dean never asked about the father. Why did he automatically SPRINT to the conclusion that Ben's his kid? It felt like the writers were a little too eager to tell this part of the story, and consequently forgot what a natural reaction would've been.
The blonde? I think my pupils were stuck at the top of my eyelids during her whole introduction at the diner. Again, so. Forced. That awful cinematography with the split-second closeups, all BAM. BAM. BAM. was just lame, and her attempts at sounding Super Slick were... *gag* I like the demon twist though. That's my only reasoning for why such a "badass" girl has hair like that-- she's magic!
I'm glad they saved the Angsty Brotherly Exchanges to a minimum this episode, but it doesn't mean they have to keep them apart!! Halfway through the episode I was wondering if J2 were in different countries or something, from how few scenes they had together.
Anyway, the main reason I loved this episode was that it was actually creepy. *shivers* God, I love horror *__* Those leech mouths were awesomely disturbing.

Date: 2007-10-12 04:51 am (UTC)That's exactly what my problem with this storyline was - rather than take a bit more time (like maybe make this a two part episode later in the season or something?) and introduce the kid, have Dean spend some time with him and notice that he was born eight years ago, notice that he has some Dean-like qualities (some; him being literally an eight-year-old version of Dean seemed so hammed up and forced), and then start thinking of the implications of his having a child, they went straight for "Dean has a kid and he's thrilled!" bypassing any natural reaction there could've been.
Plus, I think I'm just allergic to long-lost-kid storylines on TV, even if the kid wasn't Dean's.

Ugh, me too. Really don't like her. I really don't want to buy into the whole "hate a female character the minute she's introduced to the show" mentality, but so far they've done nothing to make me interested in her or want to watch her. Jo was less annoying than she is so far; at least Alona Tal can act.
Was sad to see so little of the boys together, but maybe it would help a bit with their filming schedule.

Date: 2007-10-12 05:06 am (UTC)Seriously! I mean, I had my share of beef with Jo's character, admittedly much of it stemming from my own bias towards any love interest for Dean (other than Sam, of course), but at the very least she did the best any girl could do with the godawful material she was dealt. This girl's just... ugh. They're so not convincing me of how cool she is, no matter how hard they try (and oh, they're trying). I wish this girl and Meg could switch roles. Or, the costume/makeup people could just give the new girl a freaking haircut and I think it'd solve half her problem with looking like a princess-wannabe-demon. I mean, a badass with long blonde curls? Please.
...how tough their schedule is and how hard it is on them as a possible reason for introducing more characters...
I've definitely heard from interviews and stuff about how grueling Jensen and Jared's schedules are, so I'm all for giving them a break. There's a catch though--they need to bring in some characters the viewers can actually stomach :P Ellen? Bobby's cool, of course. JDM!! And seriously, how hard would it be to wedge in a recurring minority character who isn't a) a throwaway or b) trying to kill Sam? I get that they're trying to do all-American, but there are plenty of black people or latino/latinas in the US :P
